Three Juneteenth messages given by Chowan Discovery.

Marvin Tupper Jones

Jul 19, 2024

June 15,2024: Marvin presented the lecture, “The Juneteenth Soldiers of Northeastern North Carolina”, at the Hoke County Juneteenth program in Raeford, NC.  He was hosted by the NC History Center on the Civil War, Emancipation & Reconstruction of Fayetteville, NC.  The Center has made the video of this lecture available. We thank Kobe Brown and Dorien Caldwell of the Center for hosting and for producing the video.  Marvin also gave two other Juneteenth talks in Washington, DC and in Ahoskie, NC.

Afterward in Wilmington, Marvin and Carol visited and took photographs of Civil War-related markers, the United States Colored Troop sculpture “Boundless” and Fort Fisher.  This is part of our research and documentation work.
